Overview

Almaden Parents Pre-School is a nonprofit parent-participation preschool that emphasizes play-based learning and family involvement. The school practices Positive Discipline, incorporates parent education and coaching, and is licensed by the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing.

Approach & Curriculum

The program focuses on whole-child development—cognitive, language, physical, social, emotional and creative—through play-based activities. Daily classroom experiences include story time, songs, fingerplays, counting and sorting, and developmentally appropriate introductions to music, art and science. Positive Discipline methods are used schoolwide, and teachers provide in-class coaching and optional parent education sessions.

Facilities & Enrichment

2-Day Class

In 2-Day class, preschoolers expand their experience with the teacher and participating parents; sessions include free play indoors and outdoors, snack and group circle times, art, science, cooking projects and field trips.

3-Day Class

The 3-Day class emphasizes social skill development through music, storytelling, science, art, cooking, number activities, physical play, circle times, snack and occasional field trips.

Mon, Wed & Fri, 9:00 – 11:30 AM · 2-5 years

5-Day (Pre-K) Class

The 5-Day class focuses on developmental and early academic preparation for children moving on to Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten, introducing activities such as show-and-tell, beginning math and printing skills alongside play-based theme stations and small-group work.

APPS Library Subscription Program

A month-to-month subscription that provides a monthly playlist of around 30 in-house videos covering art, science, music and movement, stories and parent content; access is provided by a monthly link after signup (cost stated on the site).

Early Explorers (Parent-Tot) Class

The Early Explorers class is designed to introduce toddlers and their families to preschool; a family member is required to stay during class and participate in children’s learning experiences.
