Almansor Center (The)

Overview

Almansor Academy is a California Department of Education–certified non-public special education day school serving students who experience learning and emotional challenges, including Severe Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Mild Cognitive Impairment, and Other Health Impairments. Instruction is individualized and includes embedded pre-vocational and vocational opportunities.

Services and supports

Small class sizes with a 1:12 teacher-to-student ratio
Physical education and adapted physical education
Mental health and counseling services, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and case management
Computer labs in classrooms and enrichment activities such as art and music
Transition planning, positive behavioral supports, and multidisciplinary team design
On-campus work-readiness training, a workability program, transportation to and from campus, and partnerships with Regional Centers and other support agencies

Facilities and resources

The school reports classroom-based computer labs, on-campus spaces for work-readiness activities, and arrangements with external service providers to extend supports for students' educational, therapeutic, and vocational needs.
