Bethany Lutheran Church Preschool

Overview

Bethany Lutheran Preschool provides early childhood education for children ages 2 through 6, including a Transitional Kindergarten class. The program is presented as a ministry of Bethany Lutheran Church and emphasizes spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, creative and physical development.

Approach and curriculum

The preschool describes a Christ-centered, developmentally appropriate and play-based approach that individualizes learning. Classrooms use curricular resources including One in Christ, Handwriting Without Tears, Conscious Discipline and ZooPhonics, and written developmental assessments are completed three times per year with a yearly portfolio of photos, art and work samples documenting each child’s growth.

Family communication and policies

Teachers communicate regularly with families using the ClassDojo app and the school uses Gradelink for whole-school messages; parent conferences and three assessments are scheduled each year.
Parents and visitors must sign in at the Preschool Director’s office and required immunization records are kept on file; volunteers who participate more than 10 hours per month must complete Mandated Reporter training and a Department of Justice Live Scan background check.
