Bethlehem Children'S Center

Overview

Bethlehem Children’s Center provides Christian early childhood care for children from four months through pre-kindergarten. The program is operated as a ministry outreach of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, overseen by the Bethlehem Lutheran School Board, and functions as a nonprofit funded by tuition.

Educational approach

The center follows a play-oriented, developmentally appropriate curriculum informed by child development theorists and aligned with the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Teachers act as guides and facilitators and provide hands-on activities intended to support social, physical, cognitive, language and emotional development while respecting cultural diversity.

Health, safety and family policies

Health and exclusion policies require children to be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning; staff may request physician clearance for readmission.
The center does not routinely give medication; prescription medications may be stored and administered with medical documentation. Sunscreen application by staff requires a doctor’s prescription and labeled product.
First-aid, emergency, evacuation, lockdown and active-shooter procedures are maintained; each class keeps provisions for three days and designated alternate pickup sites are identified.
Behavior guidance emphasizes positive discipline, redirection and restorative strategies; corporal punishment is prohibited and repeated or severe behavioral issues may lead to conferences or dismissal.
Nutrition guidance encourages foods from basic food groups and asks families to avoid high-sugar items and caffeinated drinks; lunches may be warmed in a microwave.

Tuition and enrollment

Billing is handled through the Brightwheel app. There is an annual non-refundable registration fee of $150 per child. Extra care and late-pickup fees are charged (the site lists an extra-care hourly rate and a per-minute late pickup fee), and the program posts policies on payment schedules, late payments and returned-check fees.
