Burleson Collegiate H S

Overview

Burleson Collegiate High School is an early college program that combines high school and college coursework through a partnership with Hill College. The program is organized so students complete required high school credits while accumulating college credit toward an associate degree. Ninth- and tenth-grade students attend classes at the BCHS campus buildings designated for those grades; eleventh- and twelfth-grade students spend much of their time on the higher-education side for college courses, with BCHS providing lunch, tutorials and support classes.

Academics and college credit

Students follow a grade-specific course crosswalk designed to meet high school graduation requirements and associate-degree requirements. The program can include up to 60 college credit hours leading to an Associate of Liberal Arts from Hill College when students meet academic requirements.

College and high school courses are delivered by Hill College instructors and BCHS teachers.
Sample course offerings and schedule components shown for students include Pre-AP Biology, Algebra I, Pre-AP English I, Practical Writing, Dual Music Appreciation (Hill College), and High School Spanish I.
Assessment expectations listed for students include TSIA2, EOC English I & II, EOC Algebra I, EOC Biology, EOC US History, PSAT, SAT and ACT, plus midterm and semester exams.
Students must meet academic standing requirements (including maintaining a minimum cumulative college GPA) to remain on track for the college degree.

Student expectations, supports and activities

The program emphasizes college-readiness and student independence. BCHS provides structured support such as Path classes, built-in tutorial time and daily tutorial sessions. Families are expected to monitor grades and support organization and attendance; high school grades are visible in the district grade portal while college grades are available through the college platform.

BCHS does not offer district-sponsored athletics or fine arts due to the approved course crosswalk with Hill College.
Student opportunities and traditions listed include National Honor Society, Student Council, homecoming and prom, college field trips, volunteer opportunities and school events such as Red Ribbon Week.
Accommodations for high school students are managed through district procedures (504 and ARD); college accommodations require application through the college with BCHS staff assistance.
