Overview

Butterflies Academy is a non-profit early education center serving children from age 2 up to kindergarten entry. The program runs year-round and uses mixed-age classrooms to support peer learning and individualized pacing.

Curriculum & approach

The center follows a play-based, emergent curriculum that integrates elements of Montessori, Piaget, Reggio Emilia and other early-learning philosophies. Instruction emphasizes kindergarten-readiness standards across language and literacy, math and logic, science and nature, creative arts, practical life skills, gross and fine motor development, and social-emotional growth.

Facilities & daily routine

Daily schedule includes multiple outdoor periods and structured times for learning centers, circle time, snack, lunch, rest, and outdoor exploration.
On-site shaded playground and a covered sand pit are part of the outdoor facilities.
Classrooms are barefoot indoors and use grip socks for stability and sensory awareness.

Staff, safety & enrichment

Teachers are trained in early childhood education and hold CPR and First Aid training.
Hourly hydration is built into the day; water bottles are refilled with a reverse osmosis filtration system.
Enrichment such as yoga, music, creative arts and weekly PE are included in tuition.
The center accepts subsidized care programs including CalWORKs, GoKids, and Choices for Children.
