Overview

Campus Kids Connection is an on-site after-school program serving Valencia Elementary School students. The program runs a curriculum organized around monthly themes and offers structured and unstructured activity time during the afternoon.

Approach and daily routine

The program uses monthly themes to guide activities and offers more structured "clubs" alongside daily group meetings and activity blocks. Examples of clubs listed include science, cooking, modern art, sculpture, dinosaurs, space, nature explorers, dance, drama, sewing and inventions. A typical daily outline includes student check-in, a group meeting, snack, homework time, self-directed play indoors and outdoors, and club time.

Enrollment and policies

Enrollment is limited and managed each school year; placement is determined by Expanded Learning funding priority guidelines and a separate registration process. The program serves children without regard to race, gender, religion, ethnic background or disability, and requires that enrolled children be able to function in a group setting. The program maintains attendance expectations for contracted days and uses a waitlist when capacity is reached.
