Overview

Champions at James McKee Elementary operates on the school campus and provides care and enrichment for preschool children and school-age students through grade 6. Services include year‑round out‑of‑school time and seasonal day programs.

Health, Safety & Security

Wellness screening at arrival and ongoing health monitoring during the day.
Sites follow local health department guidance and pandemic-response protocols.
Daily cleaning with non‑toxic products and frequent sanitizing of high‑touch items; cleaning supplies are stored out of reach of children.
Security measures include restricted entry to authorized staff and families, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers on site, and signed authorization for child release with photo ID required.
Emergency plans and evacuation procedures are posted in classrooms and tested regularly; a centralized crisis team supports sites during emergencies.

Staff, Nutrition & Routines

Staff receive training in child development or related fields, undergo criminal background checks, and are trained in first aid and CPR.
Most sites offer breakfast, lunch, and snacks when meal service is provided; menus are stated to meet applicable federal and state nutrition guidelines and sites can accommodate food allergies with restrictions as needed.
Arrival and departure procedures require children to be signed in/out on a roster or computer system, and only pre‑approved adults with photo identification may pick up a child.
Medication administration requires completed authorization forms and a doctor’s note for children under age two.
