The Early Childhood Program is a Christian early childhood center that is open to the community and to church members. It serves children beginning at 6 months of age through Pre-K 4 and presents basic concepts of the Christian faith as part of its program. Enrollment is offered without regard to race, religion, color, gender, national or ethnic origin, or disability.
Instruction uses a play-based, thematic approach that balances learning centers, individual activities, group time, and teacher-directed lessons. PreK 3, PreK 4, and Bridge classrooms use The Creative Curriculum (Teaching Strategies) to support language, literacy, math, social-emotional development, and hands-on investigations. Major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter are approached with a Christian emphasis.
Teachers are screened and participate in ongoing professional development. Staff certification and safety training listed include annual Infant and Child CPR and First-Aid, training in SIDS and Shaken Baby Syndrome, criminal-history background checks by the state of Texas and FBI background checks, and other in-service workshops. The program meets or exceeds the licensing standards of Texas Health and Human Services, Child Care Regulation.
The program traces its origins to a day school begun in 1969 and was acquired by the church in 1994. It is presented as a ministry to children and families and emphasizes social, intellectual, emotional, creative, physical, and spiritual development.
