Compassionate Love Day Care

Overview

Compassionate Love Day Care is an early learning center serving infants, toddlers, two-year-olds and preschoolers. The center accepts the State of Illinois Department of Human Services Child Care Assistance Program and Illinois Action for Children and offers application support for families using those programs.

Programs

Infant Care — Care for the youngest children with a smaller licensed infant room (licensed for 8 infants). Ages listed for this group begin at 6 weeks.
Toddlers Program — Classrooms and activities arranged for active exploration and motor development; ages listed begin at 15 months.
The 2's Program — Learning-center setup to introduce classroom routines and early social skills; ages listed for this group are in the two-year range.
Preschool Program — Developmentally appropriate activities in literacy, science and social skills to prepare children for the next step in school; children aged 3 and up attending preschool are required to be toilet-trained.

Curriculum and approach

The center uses Creative Curriculum™, a research-based whole-child program. Activities address multiple developmental domains including social-emotional, physical, language, cognitive, literacy, mathematics, science and technology, social studies, the arts, and English language acquisition, with an emphasis on hands-on discovery and age-appropriate learning centers.

Health, safety and staff

Facility access is secured so only authorized staff and families may enter.
Medication administration requires parental and/or physician authorization; medications must be in original containers and are logged and stored securely.
Families provide an authorized pickup list; authorized persons must present photo identification.
Daily cleaning is carried out by a professional custodian using approved cleaning products.
Staff hold Child Development Associate certificates or college degrees in early childhood education or child development, complete mandated reporter training and ongoing professional development, and undergo DCFS background checks and required health documentation.
Emergency preparedness includes monthly fire drills and quarterly tornado and intruder drills.
