Overview

Debra T. Thomas Learning Center 2 Inc provides child care for children from six weeks through twelve years. Program options include infant and toddler care, preschool, before‑ and after‑school care, and a summer program for school‑age children.

Approach and curriculum

Daily activities are organised to match age levels and developmental needs, with a curriculum intended to prepare children for kindergarten. Self‑help and self‑care skills are encouraged as children demonstrate readiness, and children take part in regular indoor and outdoor physical activities.

Programs

Infants & Toddlers — Daily experiences focus on the development of gross and fine motor skills, sensory learning, language, cognitive skills and a positive self‑concept.
Pre‑School — Activities promote self‑help and communication skills, social competence and positive self‑identity, with opportunities for both large‑ and small‑muscle play.
School‑Age — Care before and after school includes time for relaxation and recreation, optional homework time, and enrichment such as sports, art, music and field trips; before‑and‑after school care includes transportation and a summer program.

Parent involvement and forms

Parents are encouraged to communicate daily with teachers, read newsletters and posted notices, and attend parent/teacher conferences held at least twice yearly or on request. Required enrollment, medical and consent forms and CACFP paperwork are provided, with some materials available in Spanish.
