Dual After School Program D.A.S.P.

Overview

Dual After School Program (D.A.S.P.) provides after-school and summer care for school-aged children in grades Pre-K through 6th. The program focuses on educational enrichment, homework assistance, and language development in English and Spanish; the ILT location also includes Mandarin support.

Approach and staffing

Instructional time includes structured homework assistance and activity periods. Staff members undergo background credential and fingerprint checks and are described as experienced in working with school-aged children. The program follows the state "Minimum Standards for School-Age and Before or After-School Programs."

Facilities, meals and safety

Provides one morning snack and one afternoon snack daily; parents/guardians must provide daily lunch during the summer program.
Provides transportation by bus/van from designated campuses; vehicles carry a fire extinguisher and first-aid kit and staff carry a cell phone while transporting children.
Does not permit animals in the facility and does not offer water activities or field trips during the school year (water activities/field trips may occur during the summer program).
Enrolled children must have current immunization records and hearing and vision results on file; the program will not administer medication but parents may come to the facility to provide medication if needed.
