Echo Falls Preschool

Overview

Echo Falls Preschool provides early childhood education for children ages approximately 2.9 to 5.0 years. The program is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care and operates inside the Lower Falls Community Center.

Approach and curriculum

The program uses a theme-based, discovery-oriented approach with learning centers such as an "everything" table, a discovery table, art and cooking areas, and a reading area. Daily routines include meeting time, music and movement, dramatic play, block building, manipulative play, painting, sand and water play, and activities aimed at fine and gross motor development, problem solving and social skills.

Facilities and outdoor space

The site includes two large classrooms plus extra classroom space and a gym. Outdoor facilities comprise a large playground with adjacent tennis and basketball courts and a sizable side field. The program also has access to a community garden and incorporates composting and animal-related activities as part of its environment.

Enrollment and payments

Enrollment is by rolling admissions for children who meet the age requirement. Tours are scheduled beginning in mid-October the year before attendance. An enrollment contract and initial deposit are required after application; initial deposit amounts are stated on the enrollment information (examples given: 3 days $400, 4 days $500, 5 days $600). Tuition may be paid in four lump payments (March 15, September 15, November 15, January 15) or by a special monthly schedule arranged with the director.
