Explorer Mandarin Immersion

Overview

Explorer Mandarin Immersion provides early learning and care for children aged 2–6, with Mandarin as the primary language of instruction while welcoming families of all language backgrounds. The program combines child-led, play-based learning with nature-based experiences.

Approach and curriculum

The curriculum is emergent and play-based, guided by children’s interests and focused on learning through curiosity, exploration and discovery. Learning spaces are intentionally prepared to incorporate natural elements and to support hands-on projects, investigations and outdoor experiences.

Staff, meals and safety

Teachers are Mandarin speakers with prior teaching experience and are described as qualified to be early childhood teachers or teaching associates in California.
All teachers undergo background checks and fingerprinting before joining the staff.
The school provides lunches and snacks daily; meals and snacks are described as nutritious and organic when available.

Facilities and enrichment

Indoor and outdoor classrooms are designed to encourage investigation and connection with the natural world. The program description notes neighborhood nature walks and occasional invitations to specialists (including parents) to contribute to classroom learning.
