Family Life Child Development Center

Overview

Family Life Child Development Center was founded in 1981 as a ministry of First Reformed Church and operates as a non-profit, state-licensed preschool and daycare. The center serves children from fifteen months through 12 years and offers classroom preschool, kindergarten support, after‑school care and seasonal camps.

Curriculum and religious instruction

The center uses the A Beka Book curriculum across subjects including Bible, reading, math, science, health, English, music and art. Daily group worship and a Bible lesson called “Jesus Time” are included each morning.

6:00 – 8:00: Creative Group Play Time
8:00 – 9:00: Organized Circle Time
9:00 – 9:30: Jesus Time & Morning Prayer
9:30 – 10:00: Bathroom & Snack Time
10:00 – 11:45: A Beka Curriculum Learning
11:45 – 12:15: Bathroom & Lunch Time
12:15 – 1:00: Independent Centers Activities
1:00 – 3:00: Rest Time
3:00 – 3:30: Wake-Up & Bathroom Time
3:30 – 4:00: Snack Time
4:00 – 5:00: Outdoor Play & Game Time
5:00 – 6:00: Creative Group Play Time

The center provides morning and afternoon snacks and a hot lunch that includes a main dish, vegetables, fruit and milk. Meal service follows the standards of the Illinois Child and Adult Care Food Program.

Staff and admissions

Staff meet Illinois state requirements for preschool and daycare programs; head classroom teachers hold the college credits required for their positions and staff complete continuing education hours. The program admits children of any race, color, ethnic origin and religion and enrolls ages fifteen months through 12 years across its classroom and school‑age offerings.
