First Baptist Child Care Center

Overview

First Baptist Child Care Center is a weekday early education and childcare facility that serves children two years through school age (grades K–5). The center is governed by a church-appointed committee and is licensed by the State of Texas.

Approach and curriculum

The program is built to support whole-child development and includes religious instruction as part of daily activities. It uses the Church Weekday Early Education (W.E.E.) curriculum along with other educational resources and a variety of classroom and play activities such as art, blocks, stories, music, and short community excursions.

Meals and nutrition

A cook prepares hot meals daily and the center participates in the CACFP food program. The lunch menu is posted in the dining room on a four-week rotation. The center requests notification and written documentation for any food allergies and does not allow outside food.

Staff, safety and facilities

Staff meet state training requirements and each staff member is certified in CPR and First Aid.
The center maintains a low child-to-staff ratio and a sign-in/sign-out procedure for arrivals and departures.
Each child has a personal cubby and a cot with pillow and sheet for naptime; families are asked to provide a blanket that is sent home weekly for washing.
Facilities described on the site include classrooms, a cafeteria/dining area and outdoor play spaces.
