Overview

Franklin Children’s School, Inc. is a non-profit early childhood program founded in 1971 to serve Franklin-area families. The school provides preschool and pre-kindergarten education and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).

Approach and curriculum

The program follows a developmental, play-based approach and organizes learning around four main areas: social/emotional, language, physical and cognitive development. Curriculum and assessment are described as developmentally appropriate and guided by state early education standards, Massachusetts frameworks, and national early childhood standards.

Staff, governance and family involvement

Teachers are described as trained in child development and as participating in ongoing professional development; the staff are said to have an average of 16 years of early childhood experience and an average tenure of 14 years at the school.
