Alliance for Progress Charter School is a community-based K–8 charter school in North Philadelphia that serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade and provides classroom instruction alongside after-school and student support services.
Alliance for Progress Charter School is a community-based K–8 charter school in North Philadelphia, founded in 1998 and located near Temple University. The school provides a technology-rich, individualized learning environment and a curriculum that includes language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, technology and physical education.
The school operates an After School Enrichment Program in partnership with the Columbia North YMCA that runs from school dismissal to 6:00 p.m.; the program provides snacks and homework assistance and is provided at no cost. Student support services include school counseling, school social work, a Student Assistance Program (S.A.P.), McKinney-Vento services for students facing homelessness, social and emotional learning (K–8) and a Child Study Team that reviews student needs on a regular basis.
Applications are managed through Apply Philly Charter and admission is open to eligible Philadelphia residents in grades K–8; the school offers sibling preference and gives preference to children of employees and board members. Bus transportation is provided by the School District of Philadelphia for eligible students in grades 1–6 who live at least 1.5 miles from the school, and students in grades 7–8 may be eligible for SEPTA passes. The school requires uniforms (K–5 wear navy polos; 6–8 wear heather gray polos) and maintains a school store for uniform purchases. Families and community members can volunteer and support the school through fundraising and donations; the school accepts payments via Cash App, PayPal and cash at pickup.
