Happy Kids Preschool & Day Care

Overview

The Shingle Springs site is one of three Happy Kids centers serving El Dorado County and offers early education and child care for infants, toddlers and preschool‑age children. The center provides full‑day care and aims to support children's developmental needs across social, physical, cognitive and language areas.

Curriculum and approach

The program uses classroom learning centers and developmentally appropriate activities focused on areas such as science, math, arts, large and small motor skills, early literacy and sensory experiences. The infant/toddler work follows the Program for Infant/Toddler Caregiver (PITC) guidance and the overall program is stated to follow NAEYC accreditation standards.

Staff, meals and inclusion

Teaching staff are described as qualified and trained; most teachers hold Child Development Teacher Permits and site directors hold Site Supervisor Permits.
The centers participate in the CACFP to provide breakfast, lunch and snacks to children in attendance.
An inclusion policy is described: the center consults family information and may provide a trial period to determine whether it can meet the needs of children with special needs before denying services.
