Helping Hand Home is an Austin-based organization that provides trauma-informed residential treatment, foster and adoption services, and related supports for children and families, with an on-site University of Texas charter school for its students.
Helping Hand Home provides a continuum of trauma-informed, therapeutic care for children who have experienced complex trauma, including residential treatment, foster and adoption services, and post-adoption supports. An on-site University of Texas charter school serves the Home's students and is staffed with small classes and specialized instructional and support personnel. Children also participate in numerous enrichment activities and off‑grounds field trips intended to support social, emotional, and academic development.
Prepares, trains, and supports families to foster and adopt children with higher needs through at least 40 hours of hands-on experiential training at the Home and continued individualized in-home assistance from a Family Support Specialist.
Recruits, trains, and supports foster and adoptive families and places children into safe homes; services include basic and therapeutic foster care, training, ongoing support, and post-adoption services.
Provides comprehensive 24-hour residential care and an interdisciplinary therapeutic program for children who have experienced complex trauma, including individualized treatment plans, weekly individual therapy, psychiatric assessments, psychological testing, behavior intervention, and supports for health and basic needs.
