Helping Hands Christian Preschool

Overview

Helping Hands Christian Preschool is a morning-only preschool program for two- to five-year-old children. The school operates on a traditional school-year calendar (late August through late May) with a separate summer session and is licensed to care for 30 preschoolers.

Approach and curriculum

Instruction emphasizes development across cognitive, emotional, physical, social and spiritual domains. Daily activities include language arts, math, science, creative work, motor skill development and social-emotional learning. The indoor activity space is arranged into interest centers to support choice-based learning, and Bible stories and a monthly chapel are part of the program.

Facilities and daily routine

Mornings begin and end with small-group classroom gatherings. The schedule includes large-group activities, free-choice "Big Room" time with multiple interest centers, a snack period with a Bible lesson, and outdoor motor-skill time in a play yard with varied surfaces and play equipment.

Staffing, ratios and health practices

Staff hold Early Childhood Education credentials and receive annual training in CPR and First Aid, Mandated Reporter training, and Integrated Pest Management.
Class ratios noted on site: approximately 6:1 for two-year-olds, 10:1 for three-year-olds, and 12:1 for Pre-TK.
Snack is served daily with attention to allergies; staff maintain first-aid kits. The program does not dispense medication for short visits except for prescribed, life-saving devices when appropriate paperwork and training are provided.
