Overview

J Paul Taylor Academy is a charter school in Las Cruces that provides a rigorous curriculum with an emphasis on project-based instruction, conversational Spanish, and healthy living.

Academics and activities

The school’s instructional approach highlights project-based learning and Spanish language acquisition. Extra-curricular offerings include a volunteer-run Running Club open to all grades that meets before school; participation is free and based on individual mileage goals. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria each morning.

Arrival, dismissal and safety procedures

Drop-off begins at 7:30 AM; students are not allowed on campus before staff morning duty begins.
School starts at 8:00 AM; students typically line up at 7:55 AM and are marked tardy if not in class by 8:00 AM.
Pick-up begins at 3:15 PM; students not picked up by 3:30 PM are taken to the front office.
Vehicles use a designated drop-off and pick-up lane with traffic flow and curb procedures; only people listed on a student’s emergency card are permitted to pick up a child and may be asked to show photo ID.
Afterschool care and enrichment students must be signed out through the main entrance with their providers.
