Jeff Dock Child Development Center

Overview

Jeff Dock Child Development Center is part of the Hearts of Texas Head Start network administered by Cen-Tex Family Services. The centre serves young children and their families in the agency's service area in and around Giddings.

Curriculum and approach

Classrooms in the Hearts of Texas Head Start program use a research-based early learning curriculum and routine assessment to support children's development. The program implements Conscious Discipline as a social-emotional and classroom management approach and uses observational assessments to guide lesson planning and track child progress. The program also supports dual language learners through bilingual staff and age-appropriate instructional practices.

Health, nutrition and family support

Comprehensive health services including monitoring of immunizations and well-child screenings.
Family-style meals provided at centers that meet nutrition requirements and are intended to contribute toward children's daily nutritional needs.
Family Advocates who assist families with enrollment, health needs, referrals, and goal-setting.
Options for home-based Early Head Start visits and services for pregnant women, as well as parent education, volunteer and parent-committee opportunities.
