Kidwatch Plus

Overview

Kidwatch Plus provides full-day child care and early education programs intended to support families while parents work or attend school. The center describes classrooms for infants, toddlers and preschool-age children and also runs a summer camp program.

Approach and curriculum

Instruction is based on an early childhood curriculum; infant and toddler classrooms use The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers & Twos and document development via Teaching Strategies. Daily schedules balance structured activities and free choice, include large- and small-group interactions, and incorporate outdoor activity and motor-skill development. Positive guidance techniques are used to support social and emotional growth.

Accreditation, licensing and events

The center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is licensed by the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois.
Kidwatch Plus holds the Gold Circle of Quality from ExceleRate Illinois; its curriculum is described as aligned with Preschool for All, Head Start, Early Head Start and Illinois State Standards.
The program calendar includes seasonal and family events such as festivals, performances and curriculum nights, and it operates a summer camp during the summer months.
