Overview

Knotty Pine Nursery School is a family-owned early childhood centre located in North Seekonk. The school has operated since 1949 and runs a school-year program that begins in September and ends in mid-June. The centre follows the local school calendar with the exception of in-service days, observes federal holidays, and schedules vacations in December, February and April.

Curriculum and assessment

The program is structured to support mental, physical, social and emotional development through play, stories, music, games, creative arts and readiness activities. The curriculum focuses on academic readiness for kindergarten while also fostering independence and social skills. Progress reports are issued twice during the school year and parent conferences are available as needed.

Enrichment, facilities and family policies

Regular special visitors and events are scheduled to provide educational and community experiences.
Holiday celebrations and a year-end graduation are part of the annual routine; occasional field trips within the community are organized with parental participation and transportation.
The centre maintains a large outdoor play area and has an air-conditioned room available for very hot weather.
Transportation is not provided; parents must complete a transportation plan for drop-off and pick-up and must provide written permission plus photo ID for alternate pick-up persons.
