Learning Center, The

Overview

The Learning Center is an early childhood program that serves children from 18 months through entry into kindergarten across three classrooms. The center is open Monday - Friday and provides full-day care during the weekday hours stated on the site.

Approach and curriculum

The program uses a child-centered, play-based approach in which learning is driven by exploration and sustained play. Educators observe and document children’s interests and plan emergent curriculum and daily rhythms that balance active and quiet experiences and allow for long periods of uninterrupted play.

Meals

The center provides a healthy morning and afternoon snack and a hot lunch; lunches are prepared by a food service (Taste Nutrition) and organic milk is served with meals and snacks.

Enrollment and visiting

Accepts applications year-round and maintains a waitlist; most enrollment occurs in early and late summer.
Offers 2-, 3- and 5-day full-time options.
Prospective families are invited to tour the indoor and outdoor environments; tours are typically scheduled monthly during the January–June period.
