Little Inspirations

Overview

Little Inspirations operates as an early childhood center offering care and educational experiences for young children, using play and real-life activities as central parts of the day. The program includes full- and part-time options as well as after-school arrangements tied to nearby preschool programs.

Approach and curriculum

The program emphasizes learning through play and interaction, drawing on constructivist ideas and influences from Montessori, Dewey, Piaget, Vygotsky and elements of the Reggio Emilia approach. Classroom activities include individual skill-building tasks, purposeful play periods and longer integrative projects; field trips and outdoor nature play are used to extend learning beyond the classroom.

Programs and enrichment

Diving Ducklings — A part-time preschool option for younger preschoolers that focuses on center-based play and small-group exploration. Children may attend two to five mornings per week from 8:45 to 11:45 AM.
Migrating Monarchs — An aftercare program that picks up children from the Lab School's nursery at noon and provides snack, dramatic and nature play, group games and outdoor time; enrolled children are offered full-day space on no-school days and options during summer camp (additional fees apply).

Enrichment classes provided through partners include music, sign language, Spanish (full-immersion play-based classes), and yoga; these classes are offered on-site as part of the program schedule.

Family engagement

The center runs regular family events and encourages parent participation in classrooms, field trips and garden activities. A Parent Community Committee provides a forum for parents to share ideas and feedback, and seasonal events such as Nature Play Days are held to involve families in outdoor and classroom projects.
