Little Journey Preschool

Overview

Little Journey Preschool operates at the Huntley campus and provides early childhood education in a church-based setting. The program aims to support children's physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development through age-appropriate classroom activities.

Approach and curriculum

Instruction emphasizes hands-on learning and play to promote language, pre-literacy and pre-math skills, as well as fine and large motor development. Activities are designed to engage children in exploration, experimentation and problem solving, and to support relationships between children, families and staff.

Classes

Two Year Old Program — Designed for children who are interested in preschool but not yet ready for the three-year-old class; classroom activities include expressive art, dramatic play, language activities, story time and motor skill development.
Three Year Old Program — Uses a hands-on approach to increase verbal expression and social skills through a mix of structured group time and unstructured learning centers.
Four Year Old Program — Focuses on kindergarten readiness with activities in language arts, pre-writing, pre-math and motor skills; this class follows the same curriculum as the five-day program but meets three days a week.
5-Day Program — A five-day class for children aged 4 and 5 that provides extended time for reinforcing emerging concepts and preparing children for kindergarten using literacy awareness, phonemic and whole-language techniques.
