Overview

The Child Development Center at Los Angeles Southwest College delivers early education and care for young children while supporting student-parents enrolled at the college. Programming is described as developmentally, linguistically and culturally appropriate and emphasizes play-based, meaningful learning experiences and family involvement.

Licensing, funding and meals

The center is licensed through the California Department of Social Service Community Care Licensing and operates under contracts with the California Department of Education and the Department of Social Services to provide subsidized services for income-eligible families. The center participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program and provides breakfast, lunch, and a snack to enrolled children.

Admission and placement

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and families are placed through a ranking process based on state and district funding terms and priority guidelines. Families will be notified when spaces become available and are asked to respond promptly to offers; incomplete applications may delay processing.
