Margaret L. Annear is a Stanislaus County Office of Education program serving young children with special needs and their families, with an emphasis on early intervention and preschool special education.
Margaret L. Annear is an SCOE program that serves young children with disabilities and their families, with services focused on children from birth through early childhood. The program emphasizes family partnership and supports parents as active participants in their child’s learning.
The program uses a team-based, play-centered approach to support developmental areas such as cognition, social/emotional skills, motor development, self-help, readiness and language. Multidisciplinary assessment is part of the service model, and support personnel include speech-language pathologists, physical/occupational therapists, school psychologists, family service workers, adapted physical education teachers and nurses.
Assessments are provided at no cost by a multi-disciplinary team. Transportation for eligible students is coordinated through the Stanislaus County SELPA and a contracted transportation provider, with established procedures for routes, stops, seat assignments and emergency information.
The Deaf/Hard of Hearing program serves individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing from 0 to 22 years and offers a continuum of services based on student need and communication preferences; pre-formal classes are located at this site and many students use sign language interpreters to participate in general education.
The Margaret L. Annear Early Intervention Program serves children with special needs from the ages of birth to five. Inclusion support services are provided to students with orthopedic impairments to modify or adapt instructional settings so they can be appropriately accommodated in classroom and unstructured times such as recess.
