MET Early Head Start Porter TX

Overview

MET Early Head Start Porter is an Early Head Start center that serves pregnant women, infants and toddlers up to three years of age as part of MET, Inc.'s Head Start and Early Head Start services.

Approach and curriculum

The program follows the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) for birth through five and emphasizes social‑emotional development, strong adult–child relationships, play‑based learning, and individualized learning experiences. Services are delivered through a mix of models, including center‑based classrooms, programs integrated with local child care providers, and home‑based visits.

Health, nutrition and family supports

Provides comprehensive health services including screenings, vaccinations and referrals; vision and hearing screening are completed soon after a child’s enrollment.
Participates in USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and operates the 3E's nutrition initiative focused on education, exercise and healthy eating.
Offers home visiting services and parent education, including parenting classes, parent committees and fatherhood supports to promote family involvement and parental skill building.
Includes services for children with disabilities; federal requirements reserve at least 10% of program seats for children with disabilities.
