Overview

Montessori Children’s House of North Barrington is an early childhood school serving children from pre-birth through about age six. The campus includes wooded outdoor space and is organized to support mixed-age Montessori classrooms.

Approach and curriculum

Classrooms combine guided structure with opportunities for children to choose from prepared materials. The curriculum covers practical life, sensorimotor development, language, mathematics and cultural subjects, and also includes music, movement and art. Teachers act as guides who prepare the environment, assist with transitions and observe children’s progress.
