Overview

Montessori in Redlands is an independent, nonprofit school that serves children from 18 months through 6th grade. The school follows authenticated Montessori practices and reports AMI-trained lead classroom teachers; its programs are aligned with AMI standards and the school is accredited by WASC.

Educational approach and curriculum

The school uses Montessori principles in prepared learning environments designed to support independent, developmentally appropriate work. Classrooms are organized to encourage executive function, linguistic and cultural fluency, and social and emotional development. Instructional elements noted across the school include AMI-trained teachers, mixed-age groupings, uninterrupted work periods, individualized learning, formal physical education, applied and performing arts, and an immersive Spanish language program.

Campus and facilities

The campus is laid out on a village model across about 12 acres and is set among citrus groves. Buildings are linked by pathways and an on-site pedestrian bridge. The groves and outdoor space are described as an extension of the learning environment; the school has a Facilities Master Plan and completed a campus hazard and vulnerability assessment as part of ongoing campus improvements.
