The program follows principles of developmentally appropriate practice in line with the National Association for the Education of Young Children and emphasizes learning through play, hands-on experiences, and individualization. Activities and materials are intended to support cognitive, emotional, physical and social development.
All staff meet state qualifications for employment in early childhood education programs. The program describes its guidance approach as positive guidance, redirection and use of classroom rules, with parent–staff communication and cooperation emphasized. Families are invited to observe, participate in the classroom, attend parent meetings and contribute as volunteers or resources.
The center follows the local school district calendar for the academic year and offers an eight-week summer session running mid June through August; enrollment for summer and the academic year opens April 1.

For children attending Del Mar Elementary the center offers before and after school care for children TK, Kindergarten-5th grade.
