Musd Early Childhood Center (Flory School)

Overview

Flory Academy of Sciences and Technology is a magnet elementary school serving Moorpark students with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The school offers grade-level instruction across primary and upper elementary grades and includes transitional kindergarten and kindergarten classes.

Curriculum and Instruction

Instruction integrates Next Generation Science Standards and uses a hands-on STEM lab with computer science and coding curriculum. Lessons follow an inquiry-based instructional model aligned to a five-step lesson sequence (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend/Elaborate, Evaluate). The school also operates a dual-language immersion pathway and provides materials and resources to support multilingual learning.

Facilities and Partnerships

The campus includes a library and outdoor learning spaces used for gardening and environmental projects, a STEM lab and a video studio used for instructional activities. The school maintains a professional partnership with a local university to support teacher training, student-teaching placements, and classroom-based professional development.

After-school and Wraparound Care

An on-site extended-day program provides supervised after-school learning and enrichment with offerings in areas such as science, music, leadership, technology and physical education; the school also provides full-day childcare on selected in-service days.
