Overview

North Beach Kids Too provides early childhood care focused on infants and toddlers. The program emphasizes developmentally appropriate, play-based learning and supports children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth.

Approach and daily rhythm

The program follows a play-based curriculum that includes unstructured hands-on play, group story time, themed activities, and regular circle times. A sample daily rhythm includes morning free play, morning circle time, outdoor time, quiet/rest period, and afternoon activities and free play.

Facilities and neighborhood

Indoor spaces are arranged to support imaginative and tactile play with materials such as puzzles, manipulatives, books, arts and crafts supplies, dress-up materials, a stage area and play centers (kitchen, dollhouses, vehicles). The program also uses adjacent outdoor spaces and neighborhood resources for outings and outdoor play.

Food, health and safety

Parents provide daily lunches; the centre supplies morning and afternoon snacks and maintains a cold-food preparation area with refrigeration and a microwave (no stove). Field trips are conducted locally, primarily within the neighborhood, and typical transportation uses public transit; safety procedures include written medication consent, illness policies requiring children to be symptom-free for 24 hours before return, emergency first-aid and hospital arrangements, and sign-in/sign-out procedures that comply with California law.
