Overview

Opus Montessori School provides a Montessori preschool program for young children, emphasizing mixed-age classrooms and activity-based learning designed to support cognitive, social and physical development.

Approach and curriculum

The program follows Montessori principles: prepared environments, hands-on, self-correcting materials, and extended morning work periods. Class activities include practical life, language development, mathematics, geography, history, music and art. The curriculum also emphasizes independence, problem solving, creativity, peer leadership and social responsibility.

Staff and languages

Teachers include American Montessori Society–certified staff for the 0–3 and 3–6 age ranges and staff with college degrees.
Multiple staff hold CPR and First Aid training; some staff are trained to administer epinephrine for anaphylaxis.
Several staff members are bilingual or multilingual (including Spanish, Thai, Korean and several West African languages), and the program includes a piano/music teacher and Spanish-language instruction.

Facilities, enrollment and support

Facilities include prepared indoor classrooms and outdoor play areas. Enrollment requires a parent visit, submission of an application with a non-refundable application fee, a signed contract with a registration installment to reserve a place, and submission of a child’s physical and immunization records plus the original birth certificate prior to the first day. The school operates as a 501(c)(3) organization and accepts tuition, grants and donations; it also runs a sponsored scholarship program.
