Painted Saguaro Preschool

Overview

Painted Saguaro Preschool is an early childhood program located in Tucson that provides play-based early education for children ages three through five. The program uses hands-on activities and themes to support social, cognitive, physical and creative development.

Curriculum and learning

Instruction combines whole-group lessons and center-based learning. Weekly and monthly themes and a mix of teacher-led and center activities are used to encourage independence, language development, fine and gross motor skills, social interaction and early academic concepts.

Safety and daily operations

Class sizes are reduced with a stated maximum of 12 students at a time.
Cleaning and sanitizing routines are performed frequently; hand-washing skills are taught regularly; air purifiers are used and windows/screens are employed to increase air circulation.
Parents are asked to provide labeled water bottles, snacks and lunches; students are not permitted to share food or drink and meal tables are cleaned before and after use.

Staff and enrollment

Classrooms are staffed with two teachers to increase individual attention. At least one lead teacher holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an endorsement in special education. Enrollment requires completed registration forms and current immunization documentation.
