Overview

Paradise Valley Community School is a small, family-owned early childhood center that enrolls children beginning at one year old and continues through a pre-kindergarten program. The school operates on a traditional 10-month academic year (August–May) and also runs a summer camp in June and July.

Approach & curriculum

The program emphasizes learning through play and a whole-child approach that targets social-emotional, cognitive, physical and language development. Teachers draw inspiration from elements of the Creative Curriculum, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia and adapt activities to individual development levels.

Large, naturally lit classrooms organized into purposeful learning areas and a separate multi-purpose room used for music, movement and indoor activities.

Meals, communication & family involvement

Full-day students are offered breakfast each morning; all students bring lunch and the center provides a pizza lunch on Mondays. Snacks are served mid-morning and mid-afternoon. The center uses the Brightwheel platform for billing, scheduling, check-in/out and real-time parent/teacher communication. Family events and regular parent/teacher conferences are part of the school calendar.

Pre Kindergarten 4-5

A five-day-per-week pre-kindergarten program that balances play and teacher-led academic instruction to support kindergarten readiness; the program uses two large classrooms and documents student progress in a school-provided journal.

SUMMER CAMP

A June and July summer program with weekly themes, water days, special visiting performers and activities; open to non-enrolled children as well as current students.

Three's Preschool 3-4

Two classes for three-year-old children with placement guided by age and developmental level as of September 1st.

Options of 2–5 days per week; school year runs August–May · 3-4 years

Toddlers 1-2

A one-year-old toddler classroom; class placement is determined by age as of September 1st and students are grouped with peers at similar developmental levels.

Two's Preschool 2-3

Two classes for two-year-old children; parents may choose 2–5 days per week subject to availability and class placement is based on age as of September 1st.
