Polytechnic United Community Center

Overview

Polytechnic Center is one of United Community Centers' neighborhood centers serving children and families in Fort Worth. The center participates in UCC’s licensed childcare and education initiatives and offers family-focused services and community supports.

Approach & enrichment

Literacy and early education activities are led by certified literacy specialists and classroom instructors. Instruction includes small-group reading support, interactive literacy centers, daily literacy messages, age-appropriate technology use, and enrichment such as art, science, music, and field trips.

Meals, facilities & community services

Daily meals and snacks are provided as part of full-day care; meals for youth are prepared on site in UCC’s commercial kitchen.
The center is part of UCC’s network of food pantries and grocery distributions that provide ongoing food assistance to families.
Volunteer roles at the center include food pantry assistance, classroom assistance, kitchen help, and closing clean-up; some volunteer roles require a background check.
