Premier Academy Morris Taoep

Overview

Premier Academy is a program of the Grundy/Kendall County Regional Office of Education serving students in grades 6 through 12. The program is funded through the Illinois State Board of Education's Regional Safe Schools Program (RSSP) and the Truants Alternative and Optional Education Program (TAOEP) grants. Eligible students are referred by their home schools and must be enrolled in cooperating schools located in Grundy or Kendall counties.

Academics and instruction

Instruction relies primarily on computer-based programs with all coursework aligned to Illinois State Standards and the referring schools’ graduation requirements. Certified teachers and teacher aides provide one-on-one assistance, direct instruction, offline activities and academic enrichment. Individual learning plans are developed for each student.

Workforce skills training, college preparation and internship/job training opportunities
Micro pantry/food donations and financial aid/scholarship application assistance

Admissions and eligibility

Referrals are submitted by the student’s home school and include an individual learning plan, transcript and recent attendance and behavior records, among other documentation. Eligibility criteria differ by program:

RSSP

Students with repeated or serious misconduct, multiple suspensions, eligibility for expulsion, or administratively transferred after expulsion

TAOEP

Students who are chronic truants, have significant attendance problems, are potential dropouts, or are dropouts from grades 6–12 as defined by state statute
