Overview

Presbyterian Child Development Center Preschool was founded by a local church and provides early education for young children with a focus on social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Programming includes part‑day and full‑day classroom options and a structured summer session.

Approach and curriculum

The preschool emphasizes play-based and teacher-directed activities, cooperative group work, creative expression and developmentally appropriate cognitive skills. Older preschool classrooms use a theme-based curriculum with instruction in Spanish, literature and music, and activities in math, science, literacy, music and art aimed toward kindergarten readiness.

Programs and schedule

The Polliwog Class- 2-years-old
Class for two-year-olds focused on play and teacher-directed activities to build group participation, routines and early self‑management. Ages: 2-years-old. Schedule: This class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, MWF or M-F
The Frog Class- 3-5-years-old
Class for three- to five-year-olds using theme-based learning, Spanish instruction and hands-on centers for small-group learning across early academic and creative subjects. Ages: 3-5-years-old. Schedule: This class meets Monday through Friday.
Summer Session - 3-6-years-old
A summer program combining structured activities, weekly water play and local excursions such as visits to the library and community garden. Ages: 3-6-years-old. Schedule: This class meets Monday through Thursday from 8:30-12 and is 3 weeks each month in June and July.

Enrollment, fees and calendar

Enrollment requirements include completed health examination forms, lead screening, TB test and chickenpox vaccination, and a notarized birth certificate. The preschool charges a registration fee and an annual supply fee; monthly tuition rates and session options vary by schedule. The yearly calendar lists seasonal parties, parent/teacher conferences and a graduation ceremony among other events. Before‑care and after‑care are offered daily as part of the program.
