Preschool On The Square

Overview

Preschool on the Square is a non-profit, faith-based preschool affiliated with First Congregational Church in Huntley. The program describes itself as developmentally appropriate and emphasizes hands-on, play-based learning that includes social, cognitive, physical and spiritual elements.

Approach and curriculum

Programs and schedule

Three-year-old's — Classroom activities focused on social and emotional growth and kindergarten readiness. Schedule: Thursday and Friday 9:00 am - 11:30 am (Two-day program); Monday through Wednesday 9:00 am - 11:30 am (Three-day program).
Four-year-old's — Similar classroom curriculum aimed at preparing children for kindergarten through structured play and group activities. Schedule: Thursday and Friday 9:00 am - 11:30 am (Two-day program); Monday through Wednesday 9:00 am - 11:30 am (Three-day program).

Licensing, policies and environment

The preschool is governed as a non-profit organization and is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services; it is also regulated by the local health department. The program operates a peanut- and tree-nut-free environment and provides a parent handbook and school calendar for enrolled families.
