Prime Time 2 Childrens Center

Overview

Prime Time 2 Children’s Center offers full-day child care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children. The centre serves children from six weeks up to 12 years and provides transportation to School District 46 and Woodland School District 50.

Approach and curriculum

The program emphasizes play-based learning with activities across art, science, movement, music, outdoor play, large and small motor skills, reading, writing and mathematics, sensory experiences, small- and whole-group play, and center-based activities. Staff guide children through imaginative play and exploration and provide resources for development at each child’s pace.

Daily communication, outings and age groups

Infant care uses the Tadpoles system to report a child’s day to parents.
Toddler and preschool classrooms receive daily sheets summarizing activities, meals, eating, bathroom use and items needed from home.
Field trips are scheduled during the year; off-site trips are generally for children aged 4 and older, with occasional exceptions for some 3-year-olds.

Staff and training

Staff members are trained in CPR and First Aid. The centre reports monthly professional development for staff in line with requirements from state education and child welfare agencies. Employment applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma.
