Reba Early Learning Center

Overview

Reba Early Learning Center is a community-based, non-profit preschool founded in the 1960s that serves preschool-age children. The program emphasizes respect for cultural and socioeconomic diversity and aims to prepare children for kindergarten through age-appropriate classroom experiences.

Curriculum and Classrooms

The program uses a play-based approach supported by the Creative Curriculum and TeachingStrategies GOLD assessment tool. Classrooms are organized by age and development, with hands-on learning centers that focus on critical thinking, problem solving and social-emotional skills. The site operates a two-to-three-year-old classroom (Green room) and two three-to-five-year-old preschool classrooms (Purple & Blue) designated as Preschool for All by the state.

Meals, Routines and Community Partnerships

Meals: breakfast is offered as an optional service, lunch is provided (catered through Food2You) and an afternoon snack is served; the program notes alternative food or milk arrangements are available with a doctor’s note.
Daily routines: children go outdoors each day when conditions permit and remain indoors for ozone or wind advisories; outdoor play guidelines reference local "feels like" temperature thresholds.
Community connections: the center works with local partners for family supports and student-teaching placements, and participates in local childcare assistance and community resource networks.
