Redlands Day Nursery

Overview

Redlands Child Development Center is a nonprofit early childhood agency with a long history in the community. Its programs emphasize learning through play and exploration and aim to support children's social and academic development in preparation for kindergarten.

Approach and assessment

Uses developmental screening on entry with the Ages & Stages screening tool.
Teaching staff use the Desired Results Developmental Profile to monitor and plan for each child’s progress.
Classroom environments are assessed with ITERS-R and ECERS-R observational rating tools.

Staff, governance and qualifications

Teachers hold permits required by the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing and meet California Title 5 requirements; staff complete annual professional development and are certified in pediatric first aid and CPR.
Each site has a Site Supervisor who meets Title 5 site supervisor requirements and holds the appropriate permit.
The organization is governed by a board of directors and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Family engagement

The organization supports parent involvement through a Parent Advisory Committee and offers meetings and workshops (for example, open houses, parent–teacher conferences, parenting classes and literacy events).
