Rising Star Preschool

Overview

Rising Star Preschool’s San Diego (Fairmount) location provides early childhood care and education for infants, preschool-age children, and school-age children. The program materials describe offerings for infants (0–2 years), preschoolers (2–5 years) and after-school care for older children.

Curriculum and learning approach

The center uses a blend of The Creative Curriculum®, STEAM, and a Kindness-focused curriculum to support exploration, social-emotional learning and problem solving. Enrichments listed include baby signing, Spanish language exposure, weekly music sessions, and partnerships that bring farm animals for hands-on experiences.

Facilities, health and safety

Outdoor learning features such as a garden, outdoor kitchen and a science center to support messy, hands-on play.
Sanitation and health measures include daily cleaning routines, temperature checks, and an eco-friendly ZONO sanitizing system for toys and materials.

On-site speech and occupational therapy space is available to support early interventions.

Meals and family communication

Meals are prepared on site by a preschool cook and breakfast, lunch and a snack are provided as part of the program; the program participates in CACFP. Families receive daily updates and reports via a parent communication app.
