Sacramento City College Child Development Center

Overview

The Child Development Center is an on-campus childcare facility serving eligible Sacramento City College students and Los Rios employees, with limited slots available for community families who pay full or partial costs. The center operates as a campus support service and as a practical training site for education students.

Educational role

The center is used as a hands-on learning environment for SCC students enrolled in Child Development and Early Childhood Education courses, providing practical experience alongside childcare operations.

Meals and family services

Meals are provided for full-day and part-day programs and are subsidized by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (USDA); breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner are served, and special diets are accommodated within reasonable limits.
Eligibility for care is determined by State Department of Education funding criteria based on family income and size; families are placed via a waitlist process.
Drop-off and pick-up spaces are reserved in front of the center (short-term parking), and appointments are required for visitors except enrolled families.
