Santa Monica Family Ymca Child Development Center

Overview

The Child Development Center is part of the Santa Monica Family YMCA campus in downtown Santa Monica and is one component of the association’s youth and family services. The facility includes dedicated child-care spaces and youth activity rooms used for supervised care and early learning activities.

Care, supervision and policies

Supervised drop-in child care is provided by trained YMCA staff.
Sign-in/sign-out procedures require an adult with photo ID or membership card, and the same adult must sign the child in and out.
There is a two-hour time limit per session and restrictions on number of daily sessions per child.
Parents must notify staff of allergies; snacks and drinks have specific rules (finish snacks outside, drinks in closed containers, formula premixed).
Children must be potty-trained or wearing a clean diaper; staff do not change diapers. Symptom guidelines list conditions that require keeping a child home (recent vomiting, diarrhea, fever, eye infection with discharge, etc.).

Facilities and supports

The YMCA campus includes child-focused rooms (child-watch and school-age classrooms, maker spaces and youth activity rooms) and lists supervised child-care services among membership benefits. The association also highlights training and child-safety awareness as part of its child-care offerings.
