Overview

School Of Life Preschool provides early childhood education and care in Chicago for children from 6 weeks through 6 years. The centre operates infant, preschool and pre-kindergarten programs and presents a full-day routine of learning activities and care.

Curriculum and development

The program covers early literacy, pre-math, music, science, art, language development and social/life skills. The Abeka curriculum is used in the preschool and Pre-K programs. Learning materials include audio/visual aids, educational toys, games, puzzles and other supplies intended to support developmental goals.

Daily routine, meals and infant care

Daily schedules include morning welcome, structured learning times (phonics, writing/reading, numbers), play stations, gym/outdoor time, meals, rest/nap periods and afternoon activities. Infant routines list arrival greetings, play/floor time, feedings or bottles, diapering, outdoor/gym time, naps and flexible scheduling to meet each baby’s needs. Diapers are changed every two hours or more often if needed. Meals provided include breakfast, lunch and two snacks daily.

Staff, safety and participation

Teachers are hired to meet state and local requirements; background and reference checks are performed.
Exterior doors are kept locked and monitored and parents are required to check children in and out.
The site lists an on-site cook and kitchen manager for meal preparation.
Parents are welcome to visit during operating hours and daily communication between staff and families is encouraged.
